Copyright and DMCA Policy
Effective date: October 5, 2026
DownloadMapImage.com ("DownloadMapImage", "we", "us", or "our") respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects everyone who uses our website, tools, and browser extensions (the "Service") to do the same. This page explains how the Service relates to copyrighted content, how copyright owners can ask us to take action, and how users can respond if they believe a request was made in error.
We handle copyright complaints through a notice-and-takedown process modeled on the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"), 17 U.S.C. § 512, and we accept notices from copyright owners anywhere in the world. This policy is part of our Terms of Use.
In short: We do not host the photos, panoramas, or videos you see through our tools. They stay on Google's servers or on the servers of other map providers. If you want content removed from Google Maps itself, report it to Google. If you want us to stop our tools from processing your content, send us a notice with the details listed below at [email protected], and we will review it promptly.
1. How Our Service Handles Content
DownloadMapImage is a set of tools that work with links you copy from Google Maps. When you paste a link, our system reads it, finds the image or video files that the link already references, and shows them to you. It is important to understand what the Service does and does not do:
- We do not host third-party photos or videos. Place photos, Street View imagery, and videos remain on the servers of Google or the other map provider. Previews on our pages load from those servers.
- We only create temporary files. When you download a 360° panorama, our server stores the stitched image only so you can download it, and deletes it automatically about one hour later. Video download links expire after about 15 minutes.
- We do not keep a library of content. We do not index, catalog, sell, or redistribute the content that users access, and we do not offer a searchable collection of images.
- Only publicly viewable content works. The Service can only reach content that anyone can already see on Google Maps. It does not bypass logins, paywalls, or digital rights management (DRM) technology.
2. Who Owns the Content
We do not claim ownership of any content that users access through the Service. Depending on the content:
- Map data, satellite and aerial imagery, and official Street View imagery belong to Google LLC and its data providers.
- Photos, 360° photospheres, and videos uploaded by users belong to the people who created them, subject to the license they gave Google.
- Map tiles from other providers offered by our screenshot tool belong to those providers, such as Microsoft Bing, Esri, OpenStreetMap contributors, and Carto, under their own licenses.
Users are responsible for making sure they have the right to use any content they save, and for giving proper attribution. Our Terms of Use prohibit using the Service to infringe copyright.
3. Content Hosted on Google Maps
Because the original files live on Google Maps, the most effective way to have content removed everywhere is to ask Google directly. Removing content at the source also means our tools can no longer reach it. You can:
- Report a photo or video on Google Maps using the "Report" option shown on that content.
- Request a blur or report a problem with Street View imagery using "Report a problem" in the Street View viewer.
- Submit a legal request through Google's legal removal request page.
You are also welcome to send a notice to us, as described below, so that we can stop our own tools from processing the specific content while Google reviews your request.
4. How to Submit a Copyright Notice
If you are a copyright owner, or are authorized to act for one, and you believe that our Service is being used to access your work in a way that infringes your copyright, please send us a written notice that includes all of the following information:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf. Typing your full legal name at the end of an email is acceptable as an electronic signature.
- A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed, or a representative list if your notice covers several works.
- The specific material you want us to act on, with enough detail for us to find it. The best way is to include the full Google Maps link (or maps.app.goo.gl short link) for each photo, panorama, or video, or the full DownloadMapImage URL where you saw it.
- Your contact information, including your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
Notices that are missing required information may delay our response, and we may ask you to provide the missing details. Please send one notice per copyright owner.

6. What Happens After We Receive a Notice
We review every complete notice in good faith, usually within two business days. If the notice is valid, we will take one or more of the following actions, as appropriate:
- Block our tools from processing the specific photo, panorama, video, or link identified in your notice, so that it can no longer be viewed or downloaded through DownloadMapImage.
- Delete any temporary copy of that content that may still be on our server.
- Remove or edit any of our own pages, guides, or example images that contain the material.
- Take action against users who repeatedly infringe, as explained in Section 8.
We will confirm to you by email when action has been taken. Please note that we cannot delete content from Google Maps or from any other website we do not control. If the material originates from a user of our Service who can be identified, we may forward a copy of your notice, including your contact details, to that person so that they can respond.
7. Counter-Notification
If you believe that material was blocked or removed by mistake or misidentification, or that you have the right to use it, you may send us a counter-notification. It must include all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was blocked or removed, and where it appeared before it was disabled.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of a court of competent jurisdiction for the place where your address is located, or, if your address is outside the United States, of any judicial district in which DownloadMapImage may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original notice or that person's agent.
When we receive a valid counter-notification, we will forward it to the person who sent the original notice. Unless that person informs us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action to stop the alleged infringement, we may restore the material within 10 to 14 business days after receiving the counter-notification.
8. Repeat Infringers
The Service does not require user accounts. Even so, if we determine that a person or device repeatedly uses the Service to infringe copyright, we may, in appropriate circumstances and at our discretion, block their access to the Service, for example by blocking the IP addresses or networks involved.
9. False or Misleading Claims
Please make sure your notice or counter-notification is accurate before you send it. Under U.S. law (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)) and the laws of many other countries, a person who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees. If you are not sure whether a particular use infringes your copyright, for example because it may be a fair use, you may want to consult a lawyer first. We may ignore notices that are incomplete, abusive, or clearly made in bad faith.
10. Trademarks
Google, Google Maps, Street View, Google Earth, and related marks are trademarks of Google LLC. Other product and company names mentioned on this website are trademarks of their respective owners. DownloadMapImage is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google LLC or any other trademark owner. We use these names only to describe what our tools work with. If you believe that our use of a trademark is misleading or improper, please contact us using the details in Section 5.
11. Our Own Content
The DownloadMapImage name and logo, the design of this website, our original text and guides, our tutorial screenshots, our source code, and our browser extensions are protected by copyright and other laws. You may link to our pages and quote short excerpts of our guides with credit and a link back to the original page. Please contact us for permission before any other use. 12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the law, in our tools, or in how we handle requests. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Please check this page before sending a notice so that you are using the current procedure.
13. Contact
For any question about this policy, email us at [email protected] or use our contact form. Nothing on this page is legal advice. Our handling of a notice does not waive any of our rights or defenses.
