Who Created DownloadMapImage?

What Does DownloadMapImage Do?

Paste one or more Google Maps links into the box at the top of this page, click Get Images, and DownloadMapImage finds the image files behind those links so you can view, open, or download them in full resolution.

How It Works Behind the Scenes

DownloadMapImage runs on its own URL-processing engine that we built and continue to refine. When you submit a link, the system:

• Recognizes which type of Google Maps URL you entered
• Follows redirect chains, including mobile and shortened links, to find the final destination
• Locates the image sources referenced by that page
• Picks the highest-resolution version available
• Detects Street View panoramas and assembles them into a single 360° image

Because Google updates its platform regularly, we keep updating this engine so it stays compatible with modern Google Maps page structures.

Our Browser Extensions

In addition to this website, we develop and maintain a collection of browser extensions, all available on our Extensions page. They let you grab images right from your browser, which makes life easier if you work with Google Maps imagery often.

Why We Built This Project

Google Maps holds an enormous amount of visual information: geographic locations, businesses, tourist attractions, landmarks, Street View imagery, and photos shared by users around the world.

Getting to those images efficiently, however, is often difficult for non-technical users. We created DownloadMapImage to bridge that gap. Instead of relying on screenshots or complicated software, you simply paste a Google Maps URL and get the image files available on that page.

Every tool we build follows five core principles:

Responsible Use

DownloadMapImage only helps you access images that are already publicly viewable on Google Maps. We do not own these images, and using our tools does not give you any rights to them. Please keep the following in mind:

• Copyright stays with the owner. Map data, satellite imagery, and Street View images belong to Google and its data providers. Photos uploaded by users belong to the people who took them.
• Follow Google's terms. When you reuse imagery, follow the Google Maps and Google Earth attribution guidelines and the Google Maps Terms of Service, including proper attribution.
• Ask before commercial use. Personal use, research, education, and reference are generally fine. For commercial use, get permission from the copyright owner first.
• Respect people's privacy. Do not use downloaded images to harass, track, or identify private individuals, or for any unlawful purpose.
