Terms of Use
Effective date: October 5, 2026
Welcome to DownloadMapImage.com. These Terms of Use ("Terms") explain the rules for using the https://downloadmapimage.com website, its web tools, and its related browser extensions and bookmarklet (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Nguyen Ba Vinh as an independent project ("DownloadMapImage", "we", "us", or "our").
Please read these Terms carefully. They form a legal agreement between you and us. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Service.
In short: DownloadMapImage is a free, independent tool that helps you view and save images that are already publicly visible on Google Maps. You may use it for personal, educational, research, and other lawful purposes. The images, panoramas, and videos you access belong to Google, its data providers, or the people who uploaded them, not to us and not to you. Respect copyright and privacy, keep attribution when you reuse content, and do not abuse the Service. This summary is for convenience only; the full Terms below are what apply.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
By accessing or using any part of the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Copyright and DMCA Policy, which are part of these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of a company or other organization, you confirm that you have the authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.
2. What the Service Does
DownloadMapImage provides free online tools that work with links you copy from Google Maps. Depending on the tool, the Service can:
- Read a Google Maps photo or Street View link that you paste, including mobile short links (maps.app.goo.gl), and find the image files that the link already points to.
- Show you a preview of a place photo and let you open or save it at the highest resolution Google makes available.
- Detect 360° panoramas, assemble their image tiles into a single equirectangular image, and let you view it in a 360° viewer or save it.
- Find user-contributed videos and map views through our other tools, such as the Street View 360 Downloader, Google Maps Video Downloader, and Google Maps Screenshot Downloader.
- Keep a list of your recent results in your own browser so you can find them again.
The Service does not create, own, sell, or permanently host map imagery, photos, or videos. It only helps you reach content that is already publicly viewable on Google Maps or on the other map providers offered by our tools. We cannot guarantee that a given link will work, that a particular resolution is available, or that content will still be online when you try to access it.
3. Who May Use the Service
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live if that is higher, to use the Service. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. By using the Service, you also confirm that you are not barred from using it under any law that applies to you.
4. Acceptable Use
We built DownloadMapImage for everyday, lawful uses such as personal reference, trip planning, education, research, journalism, and documentation. You agree to use the Service only in ways that are legal and respectful of others, and you are solely responsible for how you use any content you access through it. In particular, you agree to:
- Comply with all laws and regulations that apply to you, including copyright, privacy, and data protection laws.
- Follow the terms of service of the original content provider, including the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Maps and Google Earth attribution guidelines.
- Obtain permission from the copyright owner before any commercial use, redistribution, or publication of content that you do not own, unless the law clearly allows that use without permission.
- Use the Service at a reasonable pace, one request at a time, the way a normal person would.
5. Prohibited Activities
You agree not to do, or try to do, any of the following:
- Use the Service to infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or any other right of any person or company.
- Use downloaded images or videos to stalk, harass, monitor, threaten, dox, or identify private individuals, or to locate someone without their consent.
- Remove, hide, crop out, or alter copyright notices, attribution, logos, or watermarks when you publish or share content obtained through the Service.
- Sell, license, or redistribute content obtained through the Service as if it were your own, or build a database, map product, dataset, or competing service from it.
- Use bots, scripts, scrapers, crawlers, or any automated means to send requests to the Service, or send requests in bulk, except through the normal features we provide.
- Overload, attack, probe, or disrupt the Service, its servers, or its networks, or try to bypass any rate limit, security measure, or access restriction.
- Reverse engineer, copy, or resell the Service, or frame or mirror it on another website without our written permission.
- Upload or send malware, spam, or unlawful, abusive, or misleading content through our contact form or any other feature.
- Use the Service for any purpose that is illegal, deceptive, or harmful, or in a way that could damage the reputation of DownloadMapImage or any content owner.
We may investigate and take any action we consider appropriate if we believe you have violated this section, including blocking your access and reporting unlawful conduct to the authorities.
6. Third-Party Content and Ownership
All map data, satellite and aerial imagery, Street View imagery, photos, panoramas, and videos that you access through the Service are owned by third parties, such as Google LLC and its data providers, other map providers such as Microsoft Bing, Esri, OpenStreetMap contributors, and Carto, and the individual users who uploaded the content. We do not own this content, and using the Service does not transfer any ownership, license, or other right in it to you.
Content that you can view or save through the Service is provided "as is" by its original source. We do not review it, do not control it, and are not responsible for its accuracy, legality, quality, or availability. If you believe content on Google Maps is inaccurate, offensive, or infringes your rights, please report it directly to Google, because Google controls that content. See our Copyright and DMCA Policy for details.
7. Attribution When You Reuse Content
When you reuse map imagery in a way that the law and the original provider allow, you are responsible for giving proper credit. For Google content, this generally means showing a visible attribution such as "Map data © Google" or "Imagery © Google" together with any data provider names, and crediting the photographer for user-contributed photos where required. For OpenStreetMap-based maps, credit "© OpenStreetMap contributors". Our tools may give you a file without on-screen controls or logos, but that does not remove your obligation to provide attribution.
8. No Affiliation with Google
DownloadMapImage is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected with Google LLC or any other map provider. Google, Google Maps, Street View, Google Earth, and related names and logos are trademarks of Google LLC. Bing is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation, and ArcGIS is a trademark of Esri. All other trademarks belong to their respective owners. We use these names only to describe what our tools work with.
9. Temporary Files and Your Data
To make the Service work, we process the links you submit in real time. We handle files and data as follows:
- Stitched 360° panoramas are saved on our server only so that you can download them, and are automatically deleted about one hour after they are created.
- Video download links are temporary and expire about 15 minutes after they are generated.
- Your result history is stored only in your own browser (local storage). You can delete it at any time from the History page or by clearing your browser data.
- Messages you send through our contact form, including any images you attach, are stored so that we can reply to you.
Please download any file you need right away, because we cannot recover expired or deleted files. You are responsible for keeping your own copies. Our Privacy Policy explains in detail what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
10. Browser Extensions and Bookmarklet
Our optional browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge, and our bookmarklet, add a "Get Image" button while you browse Google Maps. When you click that button, the current Google Maps address is sent to DownloadMapImage.com so the Service can process it. The extensions are distributed through the official browser stores, and your use of them is also subject to those stores' terms. These Terms apply to the extensions and bookmarklet in the same way they apply to the website. You can uninstall an extension or delete the bookmarklet at any time.
11. Advertising and Third-Party Links
The Service is free and may be supported by advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense and its partners. Advertisers and ad networks may use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the content of ads, for any products or services they promote, or for any dealings you have with advertisers.
The Service also contains links to third-party websites and services, such as Google Maps, browser extension stores, YouTube, and PayPal. Those sites are not under our control, and we are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their own terms.
12. Voluntary Donations
DownloadMapImage is free to use. If you choose to support the project through PayPal, your donation is a voluntary gift. It does not purchase any product, license, subscription, priority support, or special feature, and it does not create any ongoing obligation for us. Donations are generally non-refundable, except where a refund is required by law or by PayPal's own policies. Payments are processed by PayPal under its terms and privacy policy, and we never receive your full payment card details.
13. Our Intellectual Property
Except for third-party content described in Section 6, the Service and everything we created for it, including the website design, text, guides, tutorial images, logos, the DownloadMapImage name, source code, and browser extensions, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may share links to our pages and quote short portions of our guides with credit and a link back. Any other copying, modification, or distribution requires our prior written permission.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, you allow us to use them to improve the Service without any obligation to you.
14. Copyright Complaints
We respect the rights of copyright owners and expect our users to do the same. If you believe that the Service is being used to infringe your copyright, please follow the notice procedure described in our Copyright and DMCA Policy. Where appropriate, we may disable processing of specific photos, panoramas, or links, and we may block users who repeatedly infringe the rights of others.
15. Availability and Changes to the Service
The Service depends on how Google and other providers structure their websites and data, which can change at any time without notice. As a result, some or all features may stop working, work only partly, or change. We may modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, and we are not liable to you or anyone else for doing so. We may also set limits on usage, such as the number of links processed per request or the size of files we generate.
16. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT ACCESSED THROUGH IT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, THAT RESULTS WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE, OR THAT ANY FILE YOU DOWNLOAD WILL BE FREE OF DEFECTS. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
17. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DOWNLOADMAPIMAGE, ITS CREATOR, AND ITS CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE OR ANY CONTENT ACCESSED THROUGH IT, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
BECAUSE THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU VOLUNTARILY DONATED TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US$50).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, the exclusions and limitations above apply only to the extent permitted by law.
18. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless DownloadMapImage and its creator from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that arise from (a) your use of the Service, (b) your use, publication, or distribution of any content you accessed through the Service, (c) your violation of these Terms, or (d) your violation of any law or of the rights of any third party, including copyright, privacy, and publicity rights.
19. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end your access to all or part of the Service, including by blocking IP addresses, at any time and without notice if we believe you have violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure for us, or abused the Service. Sections 6, 7, 8, 13, and 16 through 22 will survive any suspension or termination.
20. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, including applicable federal law such as the U.S. Copyright Act and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and by generally recognized international law and treaties on intellectual property, such as the Berne Convention, without regard to conflict of law rules. Nothing in these Terms takes away any mandatory consumer protection right that you have under the laws of the country where you live.
If you have a concern or dispute about the Service, please contact us first at [email protected]. You agree to try in good faith to resolve the issue informally for at least 30 days before starting any formal proceeding. If we cannot resolve it informally, the dispute may be brought before a court of competent jurisdiction. To the extent permitted by law, any claim related to the Service must be filed within one (1) year after the claim arose, and each party agrees to bring claims only in an individual capacity and not as part of a class or representative action.
21. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when we add new tools, when laws change, or when the policies of our partners change. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and change the "Effective date" above. If a change is significant, we may also show a notice on the website. Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect means you accept them. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service.
22. General Provisions
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Copyright and DMCA Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest of these Terms will remain in full effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours, for example if the project changes ownership.
- Language. These Terms are written in English. If a translation is provided, the English version controls in case of any conflict.
- Headings. Section headings and the summary at the top of this page are for convenience only and have no legal effect.
23. Contact Us
If you have any questions about these Terms, please get in touch. We usually reply within two business days.
